Seasons greetings! How on earth is it Christmas already?! Did someone hit the fast forward button after summer and now Santa is peeking his head around the corner? While we’re all busy decorating our home and frantically searching for presents, others are also wondering what classic holiday look they should do. There are so many options with so many colors being great for Christmas including rose gold, bronze, and now is the time to go all out on glitter.
But, we like keeping things easy, simple, yet classic around here. So, here’s my easy step-by-step classic holiday makeup creation.
To start off this look, I prepped my skin with Kari Gran’s Three-Sixty-Five SPF and Good Medicine Beauty Lab Awakening Face Cream. I apply by dabbing little dots all over my face then gently massaging into my skin. The heat from my fingers helps to get the creams to sink into my skin keeping it moisturized all day.
My foundation of choice during the winter is the Au Naturale Cosmetics powder foundation in the shade Lucia. I apply this with a fluffy brush all over. I love how this doesn’t dry out my skin and keeps it looking fresh and natural all day. For those with drier skin, a cream or liquid foundation is recommended since powders can potentially dry out your skin throughout the day.
First, I prepare my under my eyes with Vert Beauty Lumiere concealer to give me some extra coverage and to cover any dark circles. After, I lightly dabbed Au Naturale concealer powder in Flax to set the product. It also helps to prevent any creasing of the concealer once it starts mixing with my skin’s natural oils.
Second, to prepare the application of my eye makeup, I personally don’t use primer but if you have problems with creasing, a primer is highly recommended. I love palettes that are perfectly coordinated in shades to make color selection easy and quick. I use Teri Miyahira Beauty’s compact in Harmony but any neutral based palette will do. I used a lighter taupe shade all over the lid. Then, I applied a copper shade and applied it to the crease and lower lash line. Next, I used Root Pretty All Day Gel Liner to create a simple, clean winged liner. Then for the brows, I applied Root Pretty’s Brow Pomade in deep brown. Lastly, I curled my lashes and applied a generous coating of Lily Lolo mascara in black for both top and bottom lashes to complete the look.
For my cheeks, I gently and naturally contoured using Au Naturale Bronzer in Warm by placing it in the hollows of my cheeks. I finish my rosy glow with Dusty Girls in Golden Delicious by placing it directly on the apples of my cheeks.
Now for the superstar part this look, the lips! I think any lip color would be perfect for this look. But, since I was feeling festive, I decided to do a bright red lip. My favorite bright red lip is Ilia Beauty Wild Child because it’s a perfect true red that’s also super moisturizing. My trick is to blot a few hours into the evening to create an amazing and lovely matte, non-drying, long-lasting red stain.
Some other lip color options I’d recommend to help make a bold statement this holiday season include but are not limited to the following: Root Pretty in the shade Jess that is a beautiful purple-mauve shade, Ilia Beauty in the shade Bang Bang that is another gorgeous red shade but applies more like a balm, and Au Naturale Cosmetics in the shade Spanish Rose which is deep, earthy dark burgundy shade that is a step towards brown.
I hope you have enjoyed this classic holiday look. Wishing you and yours a very amazing and warm holiday season!
